BTS’s V to Throw First Pitch at LA Dodgers Game… Ticket Site Crashes

Global superstar BTS member V (Kim Taehyung) is set to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers game.

On August 17 (local time), the Dodgers officially announced, “V will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium on August 25.” The news immediately sparked an explosive reaction from fans worldwide, causing the Dodgers’ ticketing site to temporarily crash due to overwhelming traffic.

Ticket platforms reported that sales surged more than fivefold overnight following the announcement, making the Dodgers the most-searched MLB team of the week. Fans expressed their excitement online, saying, “The ticket site went down,” and “It’s unbelievable that V is making his MLB first pitch debut.”

V’s pitch will take place before the Dodgers’ game against the Cincinnati Reds on August 25. This marks the third time a BTS member has participated in an MLB ceremonial pitch—following Jungkook in 2017 and J-Hope in 2024—and it will be V’s first international first pitch event, making the occasion especially significant.

Adding to the buzz, Korean football star Son Heung-min is also scheduled to throw the first pitch at Dodger Stadium on August 27, setting up a week of Korean star power in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, BTS has completed their military service and is currently in Los Angeles preparing for a full-group comeback slated for next spring. V’s upcoming pitch is expected to be more than just a ceremonial event—it highlights the growing intersection of K-pop and Major League Baseball, marking another milestone in global pop culture.
